Now that it’s almost time for 2019 Lavender Sessions I thought I should do a blog post of some of my favourites from 2018’s sessions. We got to shoot at the amazing Stonewall Farm in Erin, ON, and I’m very excited to say that we’ll be shooting there again this year. It’s the kind of place you really can’t help falling in love with, everything about it is just breathtaking! As of today, only one spot remains for this year’s Lavender Sessions. I've been wanting to start offering 6 month milestone sessions (called sitter sessions), so when I got some amazing new props ordered I did a model call and this beautiful baby girl came in to help me with some sample shots. I LOVE sitter sessions. Babies are at such an amazing stage at this age. Sitting up, smiling, interacting, but not really able to crawl away yet...lol. If you're interested in booking a sitter milestone session please get in touch, I'd love to work with you!
I would have to say that this session ranks fairly high on my list of all-time favourite sessions. Caprice came to see me as a newborn and was basically an angel for her whole session, and this session was no different. And what possible reason could this girl have for being unhappy? She arrived with her adoring entourage of Mommy, Grandma, and Auntie in tow. Her Aunt made her the most beautifully simple, elegant cake (and I'm guessing it was delicious too!) and her mom brought matching mother daughter outfits and adorable props. In fact, I really can't take credit for much of the styling of this session at all, the credit for that all goes to her mom's amazing taste :) We had a great time taking some mother/daughter shots and then turning Caprice loose to try her first ever cake...I think it's safe to say it went over well.
Happy Birthday little one! May this next year bring more amazing milestones and lots of love <3
When Jamie's mom told me that as far as she was concerned you could never have too much purple I took her literally and created this all purple setup to go with the cute purple accessories and outfit she was planning to bring. Part of the fun of a cake smash is working with the parents to create something different and unique for each little one and I love how this turned out. I was so excited to get the opportunity to photograph this sweet girl because I'd done family photos for them when she was just 6 months or so and it's always so much fun for me to be able to document little ones as they grow and change. Jamie is such a little character, totally hammed it up for the camera giving me all sorts of faces and striking poses...that is until we brought out the cake. To say that Jamie was not impressed with her beautiful cake would be an understatement of epic proportions...lol. Poor girl was totally freaked out by it, and maybe it makes me a bad person, but there is something about those crying pictures that I still love <3
